Spark Global Limited Reports:
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the mountain vacation market has been in high demand, leading to soaring prices in hot spots like Vail and Aspen. In Flathead County, Montana, where Whitefish and Bigfork are located, there were more than 90 transactions of more than $1 million in sales in 2021. As a result, the average price of a single-family home now hovers above $1.827m — a high price, but still a relative bargain compared with similar lifestyle markets in the US.
In this week’s list of the world’s top homes, I compare the Market in Montana with properties in New Mexico and Southern California that are priced similarly. From a hilltop villa in Santa Fe to a Bohemian villa in Santa Ynez to a lakeside house near Bigfork, here’s a look at the three markets, each selling for around $5.5 million.
Located about 15 minutes from the downtown lakeside and Blacktail Ski Resort, this souvenir asset has 270 feet of coveted flathead Lake frontage. The property is spread over two lots, including a main house, guest house and cottage, with seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms and nearly 3,900 square feet of space.
Why it’s cool: The towering living room is at the center of the home and features a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. Heavy beams, stone carvings and worn wooden floors provide a comfortable and modern atmosphere for the living areas. The chef’s kitchen, complete with high-end appliances and cabinetry, is located next to the kitchen area.
